Groundswell Conference

On January 29th, 2014, a community conference called  Groundswell 2014 was held at Vancouver Island University (VIU) in Powell River. The conference sprung from  the Defining Diversity: Creating Community project. This day-long event was intended to bring community members together in order to “inspire creativity, ideas, and relationships that advance the wellbeing of our community.”  At least 160 people participated, and the event exceeded all expectations.

Documentary Film

The event was graphically recorded and captured in film. A grant from the PR Community Foundation topped up by the Powell River Regional Economic Development Society and the Powell River Model Community Project, supported Claudia Medina to produce the documentary film, This is a Groundswell. Citizens are encouraged to use the film to advance the vision and goals of this project.
