On Monday, November 25th, 2013, VIU@Cowichan Innovation Lab hosted Richard Wagamese, one of Canada’s foremost Aboriginal authors and poets. Wagamese shared stories with a near capacity audience, speaking about his journey from a time in the 60s when Aboriginal children in Canada were taken from their homes and moved into the foster care system to his rise to an award winning journalist, poet and novelist. Wagamese left audience members mesmerized by his eloquence, deeply grateful for the honesty with which he spoke, for the wisdom that he shared, and eagerly awaiting the time that he will spend here at VIU as Writer in Residence in February, 2014.
