VIU Welcomes the New Japanese Professor

VIU Japanese program welcomes the new Japanese professor, Yoichi Mukai, from University of Alberta. He is taking over VIU Japanese program from Kimi Furuta, who is retiring at the end of August, 2019. ASIA230 (Introduction to Asian Cultures) Offered Again in Spring, 2020

Department of Modern Languages Studies is offering ASIA230, Introduction to Asian Cultures, in Spring 2020 for the 6th year.  It is currently scheduled from 16:00 to 17:30 on Mondays & Wednesdays.

This course will provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the main Asian countries, including elements from linguistics, literature, history of the region, socio-economic and political structures.  The course is taught in English and also open to Japanese and Chinese native speakers.  It is a part of the Certificate of Proficiency in Language and Culture in Asian Studies.
