Ethnographic Studies II

Immersion in an experiential field study, Canada or abroad, provides opportunity to apply anthropological knowledge and analytical frameworks. The course typically includes site visits, observation, in-field data collection and seminars (day and/or evening). Advance sessions and readings will provide background on the topic and setting before the field study.
Counts towards anthropology major in category 1 – Ethnographic and Archaeological Research.
Prerequisite: ANTH 111, ANTH 112, ANTH 211, and third-year standing; and/or permission of the instructor.
NOTE: Even though a student may have the prerequisites, the individual is still subject to approval by the instructor as field schools have an application and interview process.

For May 2015, the field school will be in Italy and taught in collaboration with Chef Debbie Shore, Culinary Institute of VI.
