Karjoana Farm was one of the 60-odd farms on Vancouver Island that belonged to Island Farms Dairy Co-operative.  Island Farms is 100% owned and operated by dairy farmers–all Canadian.  On January 30, 2005, Agropur Cooperative of Québec purchased the assets of Island Farms.

Like many small farms, Karjoana is adapting to the changing economic climate of the business.  On April 11, 2006, the farm stopped shipping milk to Island Farms.
