The Anthropology Student Club (ASC) is comprised of VIU students from a variety of educational backgrounds that have an interest in any aspect of anthropology. The club organizes social events, such as, movie nights, pot-lucks, beer and burger nights, fundraisers, and field trips. As well, ASC promotes educational events, such as, lectures, and, in particular, the annual anthropology forum held in the spring semester, which showcases student projects and internships.
Every year the club fund-raises for a charity (local and/or international), sometimes more than one. For the past few years, it has helped support initiatives of FFKF in central Tanzania (e.g., scholarships, books, water tank).
As well, monies are added to the Anthropology Club Award, which is open to all anthropology majors in either their third or fourth year of study. This award was established in 2002 and is based on the interest generated from a trust fund.
ASC provides a social network among fellow anthropology students and access to information regarding anthropology related events at VIU.
