The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) just announced that their back catalogue of technical publications has been released online for free. New CCI Technical Bulletins will continue to be sold, for a period of five years, on a partial cost recovery basis. After that time, they will also be made available for free.
This is a rich resource of specialised technical information for those working with collections, whether for museums or archaeological projects:
Dr. Tanya Peckmann of St. Mary’s University, NS, will be teaching a summer session course May 3-17, 2014, called “Internship in Forensic Anthropology” in Miami, Florida. This will be the fourth year that this amazing course has been offered.
The application date is quite soon (Jan 27, 2014). Only 16 students are chosen for the course and Dr. Peckmann wants to have the class list finalized by the first week of February – so students will have enough time to work extra shifts and find the funds to pay for this course. The total cost for the course including flights, hotel, and food is about $3500 for the 2-week course.
The VIU Education Abroad office has set up an email list-serve that will be used to send out announcements that are received about internships and job postings from overseas organizations, or within Canada, that will appeal to students and graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in international education or some sort of development work abroad. There will probably be 10 to 30 emails per year from this list-serve.
Anyone who wants to subscribe to the list can send an email to:WorkAbroadfirstname.lastname@example.org with the following in the body of the message (the Subject: doesn’t matter):SUBSCRIBE WORKABROAD
