I wanted to

How did I decide what game to play?
This is what I’ve been playing lately, and when I get into a game, I tend to not play any others until I start getting tired of it.

How do I feel about the game? (before & after)
Before: I’ve been getting into this game lately. A couple days ago I shared a Vice City related video on social media, and a few times today I’ve started thinking about playing it.

After: It was a good session, and I made some progress that I’d been looking forward to. Despite this, I felt my first bit of memory what it’s like when a game turns more into work than play. There were a couple small points of frustration, and for the first time I quit playing mostly because I was over it.

Did anything unexpected or noteworthy happen?
No

Why did I stop playing?
I just didn’t really feel like playing anymore. Also there was an assignment on my mind that needed finishing.

How did I decide what game to play?
It’s the only game I want to play lately.

How do I feel about the game? (before & after)
Before: I’ve been looking forward to playing it all day, and even briefly looked up a couple things about it while in class earlier.

After: This was perhaps the best session since I started playing a couple weeks ago. The time flew by, I had fun, and got a surprising amount done in-game.

Did anything unexpected or noteworthy happen?
Not exactly, but I nearly completed a task in this one session that in the past has taken me much longer. This was a task of collecting 4 lists of 6 cars, 24 in total, that can be found around the city. Compared to previous times I’ve played this game, this time I was more organized; I looked up the full list of vehicles online and used my 10 vehicle garages to basically collect them all at once instead of one by one.

Why did I stop playing?
Mostly because I was getting tired, and feeling a little braindead after gaming for 2.5 hours.

How did I decide what game to play?
It’s currently the only game I want to play.

How do I feel about the game? (before & after)
Before: I haven’t played for a few days, so I’m looking forward to a good session. I’ve thought about playing it every day since last time, but I’ve put it off to avoid too much gaming or getting tired of it too quickly.

After: It was a good session, but at times it felt a little more like work than play. I was determined to complete a mission, and it took at least ten attempts, but I finally got it. After that, I wasn’t quite as keen to keep playing.

Did anything unexpected or noteworthy happen?
Not really, but this was the only particularly frustrating session since I started playing.

Why did I stop playing?
It was time for dinner, and I was pretty much just ready to quit.

Review

Time played this week: 6 hours, 29 minutes

This week I played three sessions averaging around 2 hours each. It wasn’t a particularly remarkable week, but one interesting thing is that unlike the first two weeks, each time I played this week was because I wanted to, not because I felt I needed to for this blog. Despite being keen as ever to play and thinking about it daily, unlike the first two weeks, twice this week I quit playing because I was getting tired of the game and wanted to do something else. This week was also the first time I considered the consequences of potentially playing too much and getting sick of the game before finishing.
