Making a Plan
One part of managing your time is creating a plan for your semester and a plan for each week. At the beginning of the course your instructor(s) will give you a course outline or syllabus that will let you know the dates of your major assignments and how you will be graded. You can use that information to create a schedule for your semester so you know when you will be busy with school assignments. Then you can look at each week and make a plan for when you will have time to work on your assignments to avoid pulling all-nighters or cramming.

If you aren’t sure how long some kinds of assignments might take, you can use a tool like The Assignment Calculator from the University of Toronto to help you estimate and plan for larger assignments.
