Data Plans

To access the internet you can purchase a data plan from your phone provider. A lot of providers have discounts available, attached below are links to the major providers:

• Rogers Student Plans
• Bell promotions and deals (Bell sometimes offers student deals if you visit them in store with a valid study permit and passport)
• Telus deals and bundles
• Freedom student deals
• Fido promotions (Fido sometimes offers back to school deals too!)
• Koodoo plans (Koodoo sometimes offers student deals if you visit them in store with a valid study permit and passport)

viu-secure

VIU provides fast on campus WiFi called “viu-guest” and “viu-secure.” Any enrolled students and employees can access “viu-secure” once they set up their computer account using their student number and account password.

Public WiFi

You can access the internet using public WiFi aswell. Most of the Vancouver Island Library branches have free public WiFi, find a branch using this link https://virl.bc.ca/branches/

Sometimes coffee shops and restaurants also provide free WiFi on request.
