British Columbia Desire2Learn Regional User Forum

Michael and Mich packed ‘light’ for the day trip to Vanvcouver
On Friday, Liesel and I shared Vancouver Island University’s journey this year working with Desire2Learn at the British Columbia Desire2Learn Regional User Forum held at BCIT in Vancouver.  The conference brought together about 60 participants from institutions in BC and as far as Alberta to hear what was on the horizon with Desire2Learn and share their experiences.

In our presentation we reflected on our experience working with and supporting Desire2Learn and how we are planning on integrating a number of other educational technology tools for use at the university.  As many in our community know, it has been an exciting year as we are undertaking a large scale Moodle migration, organized training for faculty/students and integrated Kaltura, Collaborate and WordPress into the educational technology landscape at VIU.

Our presentation was well received and even drew a number of the Desire2Learn staff in attendance.  We gave an honest and fair account of our experience with which our colleagues at other institutions could sympathize.  Desire2Learn staff also were able to respond to some of the issues and challenges which proved beneficial to all.

Our presentation is available for review below.
