People have an affinity for stories—we learn through stories and we teach with stories! On May 12th and 13th, CIEL is hosting a celebration for VIU teaching faculty where we will explore the diverse contexts for storytelling and storylearning. We have set aside two days where we will gather to hear stories of learning transformation, stories of transformed classroom practice, and stories that explore new perspectives and ways of thinking about the world. You’ll learn traditional and innovative frameworks for storytelling and come away with new ways to use stories in your own practice.
Did we also mention these days will be fun? Story games, story cafés, mini-stories and traditional storytelling are all on the menu. It is a celebration after all!
- You are invited to share your story: What is the story of your journey into teaching at VIU? How have stories shaped your classroom?
- You are invited to facilitate a storytelling session.
- You are invited to tell a story from outside the classroom that changes perspectives and ways of thinking about the world.
