Starting in the Fall 2026 semester, VIULearn will feature a redesigned interface. This “New Content Experience” is specifically designed to streamline navigation and make course materials easier to access for everyone.
VIULearn is powered by D2L’s Brightspace platform. To help you prepare for the transition, we’ve provided two videos from D2L below that demonstrate the updated workflows for both instructors and students.

Join us for an info session
CIEL is offering weekly 30 minute info sessions where participants can ask questions and CIEL staff will demonstrate features of the new content experience. Sign up for a session below.
Request a sandbox course
To help you prepare for this change, CIEL can create a “sandbox” course. This is a place in VIULearn where you can try out the new content experience before your 2026-2027 courses are available.
Sandbox courses should be used for testing purposes only and will be permanently deleted in October 2026. If you use your sandbox course to develop course materials for next year, make sure you export a backup so you don’t lose your work.
To request a sandbox course, please fill out this sandbox course request form. We will create your course within two business days and email you when the course is ready for you to use.
