The Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning (CIEL) is excited to welcome faculty and staff to an important professional learning opportunity this June: the BCcampus Regional Roadshow.
On June 1, 2026, the Nanaimo campus will be the opening stop for the BCcampus Roadshow, a province-wide initiative that brings educators, instructional leaders, and learning designers together to explore current and emerging practices in post-secondary education. We are excited and grateful to have been selected, and encourage all faculty and staff to participate as we learn from our esteemed colleagues at BCcampus.
What is BCcampus?
BCcampus is a publicly funded organization that supports teaching and learning innovation across British Columbia’s post-secondary system. BCcampus works collaboratively with institutions, faculty, and students to improve educational quality and accessibility through shared resources, open educational practices, and professional development opportunities.
BCcampus is widely recognized for its leadership in:
- Open educational resources (OER)
- Teaching and learning innovation
- Digital learning and accessibility
- Faculty development and community-building initiatives
By working across institutions, BCcampus helps strengthen the post-secondary system as a whole, ensuring that innovation and good practice are shared broadly rather than developed in isolation. Hosting the roadshow at VIU is an opportunity for the VIU community to both learn from and contribute to a broader network of educators who are actively shaping the future of post-secondary teaching in British Columbia.
What is the BCcampus Roadshow?
The BCcampus Roadshow is a travelling professional learning event designed to spark conversation and collaboration across British Columbia’s post-secondary sector. Each stop features a curated program of interactive workshops, facilitated sessions, and opportunities for meaningful dialogue with peers and facilitators.

- Rethinking Assessment in the Time of GENAI
- Centering Student Voice and Choice in AI-Enhanced Teaching and Learning
- Introduction to Digital Accessibility
- H5P Activities: How to Create, Adopt and Adapt open activities for your course
- Designing for Neurodiversity
These sessions are designed not only to share expertise but also to create space for reflection, experimentation, and connection among educators.
What to Expect
Participants can expect a full day of interactive learning, including:
- Hands-on workshops and facilitated discussions
- Opportunities for cross-campus networking
- Teaching and Learning Resources Showcase over lunchtime featuring campus services and supports
- Practical ideas that can be applied directly in teaching practice
