Workshop: generative AI and foundation learning

How can we preserve the productive struggle that helps students learn while also developing their AI literacy?

Join VIU professor Jerome Lesemann with the Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning (CIEL) for a hands-on, guided activity and facilitated discussion on pedagogical strategies and assessment redesign in foundational university courses in response to generative AI. The session will examine how existing pedagogical approaches (e.g. flipped classrooms, project-based learning, inquiry-based activities) and classroom activities (e.g. concept mapping, oral explanations) might be adapted in response to generative AI.
