An increasing number of VIU faculty are making use of the Early Feedback Service, an anonymous in-class survey of students that occurs just before mid-term. This tool was designed to allow faculty to take a conveniently simple data snapshot of how students are experiencing the course, in case the instructor want to make minor adjustments. The survey is available on-demand for all VIU instructors and the results are sent only to the person requesting the service. You can preview the instruments on the CIEL web site (ciel.viu.ca). Come and hear how three (two) of your VIU colleagues have used the service, what they learned from it, and how it affected their teaching. If you are thinking of putting together a teaching portfolio, or just looking to improve the student experience of your course, this is one session you will not want to miss.
