We Can Help!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Whether you are new to online teaching, looking to expand your online teaching skills or just curious about what effective online learning looks like, there are many ways we can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At any time, you can request a one-on-one consultation with a technology or online pedagogy expert by emailing <strong>learnsupport@viu.ca<\/strong>. We also have blog posts related to online learning such as <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.viu.ca\/ciel\/2024\/09\/04\/choosing-the-right-tool-for-asynchronous-online-learning\/\">Choosing the Right Tool for Asynchronous Online Learning<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.viu.ca\/ciel\/2024\/01\/26\/navigating-digital-technology-in-teaching-and-learning\/\">Navigating Digital Technology in Teaching and Learning<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now we offer <strong>three different formal learning opportunities<\/strong>. Each one is designed to meet the needs of faculty at different points along their online and teaching journey. You are welcome to join one or all three. Each is outlined below along with registration information for upcoming offerings. We look forward to seeing you there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faculty Orientation to Online Teaching (FOOT)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Delivery Mode: <\/strong>Online Synchronous (Teams)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duration: <\/strong>3 hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FOOT<strong> <\/strong>is the shortest of the three opportunities. It is designed to introduce best practices for online and blended teaching and learning and provide an overview of the technology tools and supports available at VIU. Participants will either work on an online course that they are developing or redeveloping or on a face-to-face course that they are converting to be online. By the end of OLI, you will have designed a course that meets or exceeds established best practices for online learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are currently accepting expressions of interest for our next offering of OLI so that we can best meet the needs of participants.
