Whether it\u2019s VIU\u2019s own <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.viu.ca\/provost-vp-academic\/provost-awards-excellence-teaching\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Provost Awards for Excellence in Teaching Design and Practice<\/a>, or the provincial <a href=\"https:\/\/bctlc.ca\/west-coast-teaching-excellence-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">West Coast Teaching Excellence Award<\/a>, or the Canada-wide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stlhe.ca\/awards\/3m-national-teaching-fellowship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3M National Teaching Fellowship<\/a>, teaching awards are a way for us to recognize the excellent work that happens in classrooms across our campuses every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you\u2019ve thought about applying for a teaching award, but weren\u2019t sure where to start. Or maybe you weren\u2019t sure why you might put together an application. We asked two award recipients &#8211; <strong>Jessica Gemella<\/strong> and <strong>Pam Shaw<\/strong> &#8211; about their experience. Here\u2019s what they had to say in response to the following 5 questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Why apply for a teaching award?
