Have you ever struggled to convert a paper quiz to online questions in VIULearn? You can now access a quiz conversion tool in VIULearn designed to make this process much simpler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access the tool <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The quiz conversion tool is available to all VIU instructors through Discover in VIULearn <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. From your VIULearn homepage, click Discover<\/strong> on the navigation bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Find and click on the Quiz Question Conversion Tool\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click Enroll in course<\/strong> to sign up for the course and add it to your VIULearn courses\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click Open course<\/strong> to go to the course homepage<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Format your questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    To use the question conversion tool, you will need to paste the text of your questions into the field provided. In order for the tool to understand your questions they need to be formatted in a specific way. There are examples and instructions built into the tool, but we\u2019ve also included those directions here as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Matching Questions (MAT)<\/strong><\/summary>\n

                1. Type match directly before your question text, followed by a space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                2. In each answer line, separate the choice and its correct match with a slash (\/) and one space on each side of the slash. Do not include more than one slash character in each answer line.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                3. You can include extra choices that have no corresponding match. Simply place no text to the left of the slash\u2014see the last choice\/match entry in the example at the right (\u201c\/fore\u201d).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                4. Any identifiers or enumerators included at the beginning of choice\/match text lines will be automatically removed, regardless of the selection made in the \u201cRemove enumeration from answers\u201d box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                5. The answer match entries will be automatically randomized when this question is presented in a quiz.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    Once you have a document with your formatted questions, you\u2019re ready to use the conversion tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    1. Open the tool from the course content<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    2. Paste your questions in the box provided<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    3. Update the point value and difficulty if desired<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    4. Click Convert<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    5. You should see a message at the bottom of the page letting you know you\u2019ve successfully converted your questions and download will automatically begin of the formatted csv<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
