If you had media on VIUTube prior to July 2022, it should now be visible in the Manage Media area of the new VIUTube. Migration is an automated process and there is always the possibility that something will not have been imported as expected. Please check your media collection and report any missing media or any other concerns you have as soon as possible by emailing <a href=\"mailto:learnsupport@viu.ca\">learnsupport@viu.ca<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-x-large-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where to Find Migrated Media&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The media content brought over from our old platform will be located in a separate folder within your collection on VIUTube.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.viu.ca\">https:\/\/learn.viu.ca<\/a> and log in with your VIU account&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the VIUTube link in the navigation bar&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the folder titled with your username. This folder should contain all migrated media.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure your media has all copied over as expected, you can compare this collection to the information on the old VIUTube platform (available only until September 30, 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/viuvideos.viu.ca\/my-media\">https:\/\/viuvideos.viu.ca\/my-media<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in with your VIU account&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-x-large-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>Student Media<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Student media has been moved to a centralized administrator account in the new VIUTube and will need to be manually migrated to users by CIEL staff. If you have students who have VIUTube content please encourage them to reach out to us at <a href=\"mailto:learnsupport@viu.ca\">learnsupport@viu.ca<\/a> to have their content migrated and to get answers to any questions they have about the new platform.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-x-large-font-size wp-block-heading\" id=\"Update-Media\"><strong>Updating Links and Embed Codes&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that your media has been migrated, you can begin replacing old links and embedded videos in your VIULearn course, VIUBlogs site, or anywhere else you may have shared VIUTube media. You can also submit a list of the precise locations of your media that needs to be replaced to <a href=\"mailto:learnsupport@viu.ca\">learnsupport@viu.ca<\/a> and CIEL staff will assist with updating your video content.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click below to see steps for replacing links in various places in your VIULearn course or VIUBlogs site.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js accordion-link\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><button id=\"at-86650\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller c-accordion__title--button\" role=\"button\"><strong>VIULearn Content<\/strong><\/button><div id=\"ac-86650\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Videos that were added directly to content (rather than inside of a content page) cannot be edited. Instead, you will need to add a new embedded video and delete the old content.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Embed your updated video. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your course, go to the content module where your video should be located&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Existing Activities<\/strong> and choose <strong>Add VIUTube Media&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Media Chooser, locate the media you want to embed and select it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Insert Content<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your media will be added to the bottom of the module. You can move it to its correct location using drag and drop.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Once you have added the new video, you will want to delete the old video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the arrow next to the item you want to delete to open the context menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Remove Topic<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Delete <\/strong>to confirm and remove the media from your content<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js accordion-link\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><button id=\"at-86651\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller c-accordion__title--button\" role=\"button\"><strong>VIULearn Content Page (HTML Page)<\/strong><\/button><div id=\"ac-86651\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your course, go to the content item where your video is embedded&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the arrow beside the content item title and select <strong>Edit HTML<\/strong> from the context menu&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delete the old video from your content&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Insert Stuff<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>VIUTube Media Chooser&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Media Chooser, locate the media you want to embed and select it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Insert Content<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will see a preview of your media. Click <strong>Insert<\/strong> to add it to your content.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you are finished editing your page, click <strong>Save and Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">If you have a link, rather than embedded media in your course file, you can replace that from this same Edit HTML screen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Highlight the old link in your content and delete it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Insert Quicklink<\/strong> button&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Add VIUTube Media<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the media you want to link in the media chooser&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Insert Content<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A link will be added with the title of your media as the link text. If you wish to change the text of the link, click anywhere in the link and a context menu will appear above the link.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the context menu, click <strong>Edit Link<\/strong>. Enter the text you want to use for the linke in the Title field.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you are finished editing your page, click <strong>Save and Close<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js accordion-link\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><button id=\"at-86652\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller c-accordion__title--button\" role=\"button\"><strong>Replace a Link in a PowerPoint, Word Document, PDF, or Other Uploaded File in VIULearn<\/strong><\/button><div id=\"ac-86652\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">In order to edit a document you have uploaded to VIULearn, you will need to download the file, make your changes offline, and then replace the file in VIULearn.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Download a file in VIULearn&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your VIULearn course, go to the Content module where your file is located<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the arrow beside the file name and select <strong>Download <\/strong>from the context menu&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Edit your file offline to add your updated links. You can find your link with these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to VIUTube and locate the media you want to link&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hover your mouse over the media item and select <strong>More\u2026<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <strong>Links<\/strong> section and copy the <strong>Direct Link <\/strong>to your video&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Once you have made all necessary changes to your file, you can replace the existing file in VIULearn:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your VIULearn course, go to the Content module where your file is located<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the arrow beside the file name and select <strong>Change File <\/strong>from the context menu&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drag and drop the updated file or click Upload and browse your computer to find the file&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to make sure all members of your class have their content tracking reset and send a notification to those who have subscribed to them, check the box for \u201cNotify students that the content has changed\u201d.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Update<\/strong> to replace the file.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js accordion-link\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><button id=\"at-86653\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller c-accordion__title--button\" role=\"button\"><strong>Link in a VIUBlogs Page or Post<\/strong><\/button><div id=\"ac-86653\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While logged into VIUBlogs, go to the page or post where your media is linked and Edit the page or post&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the editor, click on the linked text or image and then click the Edit icon (pencil symbol) in the context menu to edit the link.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paste your new VIUTube link in URL box and the press enter on your keyboard&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you are finished editing, click <strong>Update <\/strong>to save and publish your changes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">You can find your VIUTube link with these steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to VIUTube and locate the media you want to link&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hover your mouse over the media item and select <strong>More\u2026<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <strong>Links<\/strong> section and copy the <strong>Direct Link <\/strong>to your video<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js accordion-link\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><button id=\"at-86654\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller c-accordion__title--button\" role=\"button\"><strong>Embedded Video in VIUBlogs Page or Post<\/strong><\/button><div id=\"ac-86654\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While logged into VIUBlogs, go to the page or post where your media is linked and Edit the page or post&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the editor, you may see your embedded video or the Embed URL block. If you see the video, click on that block and then click the Edit URL (pencil) icon to see the Embed URL block.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paste the Direct Link for your VIUTube media in the embed box and then click Embed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you are finished editing, click Update to save and publish your changes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">You can find your VIUTube link with these steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to VIUTube and locate the media you want to link&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hover your mouse over the media item and select <strong>More\u2026<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <strong>Links<\/strong> section and copy the <strong>Direct Link <\/strong>to your video<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-x-large-font-size wp-block-heading\"><strong>VIUTube Retention Process&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Media on the new VIUTube platform will be retained according to the new VIUTube retention process. Please <a href=\"https:\/\/ciel.viu.ca\/pages\/viutube-cleanup-process\">review this process on our website<\/a>.
