Join us for our first speaker series on the benefits of open educational resources (and textbooks) that go beyond just them being free. Clint manages the Open Education department and associated activities at BCcampus and is an extremely experienced educational technologist in all aspects of teaching and learning. Jessie is one of three BC Campus Faculty Fellows, post secondary educators who have been tasked with researching, mentoring and performing outreach on Open Textbooks. This session will be of benefit to anyone looking to integrate learning technologies, especially open educational resources into their teaching and learning practices.


clintlalondeClint Lalonde, Manager, BCcampus: Clint is an educational technologist and an advocate for the use of open educational resources and open education practices in higher education. Clint has worked in the British Columbia post-secondary system for 20 years, and is currently the Manager of Open Education at BCcampus where he is a project lead on the BC Open Textbook project, working towards providing post-secondary faculty & students with free and openly licensed remixable textbooks.

jessiekeyJessie Key, VIU Chemistry Faculty Member: Jessie joined the VIU Faculty in the fall of 2012, and teaches general chemistry (CHEM 140, 142) and organic chemistry (CHEM 231/232). He has previously taught as a sessional lecturer at UBC-Okanagan and was an instructor for Academic Upgrading and Chemical Technology at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Jessie’s chemistry research interests include organic chemistry and chemical biology with a focus on fluorophore synthesis, labelling and bioassay development. He has also been conducting research on video tutorial effectiveness for chemistry laboratories. Jessie has worked with the BCcampus Open Textbook project as a reviewer, author and Faculty Fellow.
