The DDCC Project

Defining Diversity: Creating Community is a community-engaged research project designed to evaluate the impact of an intentionally crafted educational experience on both individual participants and the Powell River community over a two year period.The intention is to positively impact the social and economic well-being of our community.

The program promotes citizen engagement and cultivates inclusion and belonging. The emphasis is on an asset based approach to community development. The education experience is a two day course which is being offered free to interested participants. The course was developed by skilled educators in consultation with community groups and utilizes innovative approaches to teaching and learning. It provides a safe and supportive space for reflection and dialogue. Key topics are diversity, discrimination, asset based community development, and contribution.

The course is based on the award winning film with the same title, Defining Diversity, Creating Community.
