It occurs to me that relevance is a key factor for creating a non-disposable project.  I am inheriting a new course this term (forest ecology & silvics).  Just by the nature of the topic, the ecology part will likely be fascinating.  But if I’m not careful, the silvics (characteristics of trees) will be tedious.  There are ~20 tree to cover; and for each 12-15 traits to know.  Some creativity is needed here.  Perhaps a class project where they create an online compendium of the silvical traits for the trees. I like the class project aspect, but the end result is not likely something I would want to read.  (I’d have to in order to mark it … but it lacks personal interest).  So I am looking forward to this afternoon for ideas.
