Final Entry
Well, that’s that on that!
A semester filled with exciting field trips to learn about the ins and outs of environmental geology. Overall, my main takeaways are:
- Environmental problems relating to Earth’s processes and human interactions are complex, and multileveled, and include many different disciplines to find solutions.
- Nanaimo has a lot of mine waste that will need to be dealt with in the near future.
- How we change and interact with our natural surroundings can have detrimental consequences and we need to work back in infrastructure to remediate and work alongside our surroundings instead of against them.
- We need to stop using plastic.
Thank you to Tim Stokes for taking us on these field trips and expanding our knowledge of environmental geology!
