I am fortunate to be able to work with some amazing collaborators and colleagues on this social media research project.

My collaborators on the grant:

Wendy and RachelDr. Wendy Nielsen is located at University of Wollongong in Australia. She has research expertise in the areas of science learning and technology and science teacher education. She currently conducts research on the Digital Education Revolution, a national initiative in Australia that is providing laptop computers to all Year 9 students in the country over a four-year rollout.  Her research uses cultural-historical perspectives to frame technology implementation in high school science classrooms and incorporates complexity thinking into other research projects in teacher education.

 

Biking in SwedenDr. Cedric Linder is the Chair Professor of Physics Education Research at Uppsala University in Sweden. He leads the Physics Education Research Group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. In the field of physics education he has extensive expertise in theory building, particularly in the area of disciplinary discourse and multimodality in physics learning.

 

 

My colleagues at Vancouver Island University:

Nicole McDaid hasRachel and Nicole worked as a research assistant on this project since September 2011. She recently completed her Masters in Educational Leadership at VIU and currently works at Aspengrove School in Nanaimo, BC.

 

 

Julia Hengstler is the educational technologist in the Faculty of Education at VIU and an expert in social media policy and practice. Julia can be found on twitter as @jhengstler and on her blog.
