Week 35

August 28th // Off With Their Heads!

Cultural Activity:

The students are pinching the plants today, a very important procedure that will encourage lateral growth and slow down the apical dominance that is natural in poinsettias. Basically making the plants more bushy.

Details: The students are pinching the plants by performing a diagonal cut (with sanitized pruning shears) above the 6th or 7th node, counting from the bottom of the stem up.
The greenhouse shade curtains above the crop will be set to 25% to avoid the sun burning the fresh wounds made from pinching the plants.
