Hello my name is Elena G. and I have chosen to share positive intentions that survivors have written from the Mi’kmawey Debert Cultural Centre to create hope and understanding for all. I burned sage to help cleanse each intention and burned each intention so that it could be sent off into the universe. This demonstrates the power of healing and reconciliation that can be shared by all. Fire can be used to bring closure and strength, while the smoke allows for each intention to spread. The Puntledge River which is shown throughout the film shows how difficult our journey for reconciliation can be. Just like the salmon who swim up this same river year after year battling the strong currents our path is full of obstacles and misunderstanding. It is important for us all to educate ourselves and share our knowledge if this journey is to continue. We must unite and work together so that all are respected and acknowledged.
