DESCRIPTION:Dr Amel Aldehaib in conversation with Dr Magnolia Pauker \nClick HERE to join us by microsoft teams 10:30am – 12:30 pm PST on Friday\, February 27 EVENT LINK \nIn this urgent collaboration between Sudanese feminist\, Dr. Amel Aldehaib and transnational feminist\, Dr. Magnolia Pauker\, we will discuss our work to expose the brutal disconnect between lofty policy rhetoric and the lived terror of conflict and abandonment by the international community. Amid state collapse and escalating gender-based violence\, Sudanese women are not waiting to be rescued—they are leading by working for peace from the ground up. \nSudan’s future must be shaped by those most affected—women on the frontlines of resistance and recovery\, particularly marginalized groups\, displaced women\, women with disabilities\, and women from historically excluded ethnic communities\, including women from Darfur\, Nuba mountains\, Kordofan\, Blue Nile and East Sudan. In particular\, those who bear not only the impact of the current war but also the burden of more than three decades of state-sponsored violence and genocide carried out by successive regimes and their militias\, most notably under the authoritarian rule of the National Islamic Front government led by Omer al-Bashir (June 1989 – April 2019). \nRealizing peace in Sudan demands not only political will but a radical paradigm shift from “two-sides” approach of militarized\, male-dominated politics towards feminist\, intersectional\, decolonial and locally led framework to peace and security. In this conversation\, Dr Aldehaib and Dr Pauker will offer not just critique\, but a concrete set of strategies\, which together create a visionary blueprint for transforming Sudan’s future—with women at its centre. \nWith thanks to our funders\, VIUFA’s Women’s and Gender Equity Committee and the VIU Faculty of Arts & Humanities.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an interView between friends and colleagues\, Dr. Amel Aldehaib and Dr. Magnolia Pauker\, as they discuss their transnational feminist partnership in support of women\, children\, and others impacted by the mass killings\, atrocities\, massacres\, and genocide in Sudan. This conversation will focus on sharing Dr. Aldehaib’s knowledge and experience as the founder of Goodness Radiance\, a women-led volunteer organization located on Aba Island in Sudan’s White Nile Region\, where many displaced people have been seeking refuge from mass killings\, atrocities\, massacres\, and genocide. \nWe will also introduce our brilliant VIU students in Snuneymuxw who have are learning and working in community with us using strategic\, decolonizing\, and intersectional transnational feminist methods to amplify the voices of Sudanese knowledge-keepers and mobilize resources in direct support of people displaced in Sudan\, and beyond. \nAttendance is by donation.
