Educator, Communication Designer & Creative Facilitator, perceptive listener, big hearted problem solver and expert navigator of visual communications, Co-Founder of the Nanaimo Design Nerds and a certified Graphic Designer with the Graphic Designers Society of Canada. Jackie is a Sessional Professor at VIU and Capilano University, the PechaKucha Night Nanaimo City Organiser, Entrepreneurial Lead with Start up Nanaimo, a Yogi, and Mother – with over 8 years of post secondary educator experience and a practitioner of a human centred approach (Design Thinking) in every aspect.
Growing up in South Africa, studying in the UK, The Netherlands and Canada, Jackie completed her undergraduate degree in Communication Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Followed by a Graduate degree at NSCAD University, Jackie has dedicated her design skills to teach, learn and practice the distinctions of design for positive impact, to develop tools, spaces, systems, curriculum and learning experiences designed around the needs and cultural context of students/audiences.
