Belonging in Teaching

Students in University face great change: new ideas, new people, new expectations, different habits of learning, a new understanding of global crises and new responsibilities. Learning means re-examining accepted ideas, changing their ways of being and thinking and finding new connections. Essential to success is a sense that students ‘belong’ here and can flourish in their new reality.
As faculty, we are also learning—experiencing continual change as we adopt new technologies, see students changing and address developing ideas in our chosen field. How do we navigate this changing terrain while helping students face uncertainty and equipping them for the next step in their lives?

Join our conversation on creating a sense of belonging for our students and for ourselves as we teach. Submit your ideas for how you bring students to new ways of thinking and doing. Share how you have adjusted your teaching to changing realities and students with new gifts, talents, and backgrounds.
