SoSc Grad Info Night, Nov 12

The Sociology Students’ Union is organizing a Social Sciences Graduate Information Night.

WHEN: November 12 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
WHERE: Building 355, Room 211 (the lounge), Nanaimo campus.

The event is multidisciplinary with faculty representation from SoSc departments.

Pizza will be available from 5:30 PM and participants will be seated for the event to begin at 6:00 PM. Introductions (5-minutes each) by various instructors will include mention of credentials, graduate and work experience, etc.

The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) just announced that their back catalogue of technical publications has been released online for free.  New CCI Technical Bulletins will continue to be sold, for a period of five years, on a partial cost recovery basis. After that time, they will also be made available for free.

Note the three key points:

  • Don’t make your resume longer than a 25 year professional, especially when you’re a graduate!
  • Make sure you bring questions to ask your interviewer – maybe find 30 that they’ve never been asked before?
  • Don’t be dressed for failure!
