Student Computer Account
Your VIU computer account is how you will log into VIU technology tools like campus computers, campus wireless, and VIULearn (D2L). It is different from your student record account!
Want to learn how to create your computer account? Here is a link the student technology guide: IT Student Guide Website. Look under “Step 3: Set Up Your Computer Account”.

Student Record
Your online student record is where you manage official business with the University. You can update your address or email, see your official grades, pay your fees and much more.
Logging in to Your Student Record
To access your student record, go to https://my.viu.ca
Your username is your student number with no spaces or dashes.
The first time you log in, you will need to create a password. The default password is your birth dates in YYMMDD format. For example, if your date of birth was September 8, 2001 you would put in 010908:
- 01 from the year 2001
- 09 because September is the 9th month of the year
- 08 from the day 8th day
Once you log in, you will create a new password as well as a security question/answer. Once you’re done with this, you’re good to go!
