The Centre for Innovation in Excellence in Learning (CIEL) 2025 Teaching and Learning Conference: Showcase Series, featured four roundtable discussions. At each session, faculty members from different disciplines shared their work, followed by a discussion on its impact on teaching and learning. Sustainability was the theme on May 14, broadly interpreted to highlight teaching strategies that address environmental sustainability, support well-being, and build community. The roundtable featured four panelists:
- Jerome Lesemann, Professor, Earth Sciences, presented a class-wide groundwater mapping project that highlights sustainability and authentic assessment tied to learning outcomes.
- Judith McIntyre, Professor, Management, shared a podcast project that demonstrates student leadership and raises awareness of sustainable development goals.
- Wendy Simms, Professor, Education, shared strategies to foster hope when teaching and learning about sustainability issues.
- Amanda Johnson, Professor, Recreation and Tourism, discussed an approach to sustainable assessment practices that benefit both instructors and students.
Below is a recording of the roundtable presentations.
