The Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement (OIEE), and the Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning (CIEL) are excited to welcome you to the 2025/26 Truth and Reconciliation Professional Development series.
There are two offerings as part of the series:
The Book* Club: Preparing Hearts and Minds
This isn’t your average book club: it’s the best book* club you’ve ever joined! We each select a book* that inspires us, and meet with our lunches—thinking & feeling our way through the ongoing work of Truth and Reconciliation.
When: Offered on the first Tuesday of each month, from 12:00-1:00pm
Where: Shq’apthut, Building 170. Nanaimo Campus
What’s a book*?: Book includes novels, non-fiction, poetry, academic articles, films, children’s books, graphic novels, etc.
The Podcast Club: With Special Guests
Each month, we’ll listen to short podcasts and then gather with Elders, community guests, and colleagues for conversations. We will meet on rotating Fridays over lunch to reflect on our learning and explore what it means to be good participants in the ongoing work of Truth and Reconciliation.
When: Rotating Fridays from 11:30am-1:00pm.
