VIUTube Service Challenges Update

We are continuing to see intermittent challenges with accessing and uploading VIUTube media. Kaltura engineers are currently rebuilding the service index and have made some modifications to improve performance and access. This process may take several hours to complete. During this time users may notice some media missing from their My Media.

We are continuing to see intermittent challenges with accessing and uploading VIUTube media. Our vendor and service provider are working to resolve these issues and improve stability of the platform. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this.

VIUTube Service Challenges

VIUTube servers were down from approximately 8:00 pm PST March 10 to 1:00 am PST March 11. During this outage, users may have seen errors when trying to play videos or access https://viuvideos.viu.ca.

The servers are back online; however, we are continuing to see experiencing intermittent performance issues as well as occasional 500 errors when loading media on VIUTube. There may be intermittent issues playing VIUTube media. Our vendor, Kaltura is aware of the challenge and working to resolve the issue.

If you receive an error when trying to load a video, please try refreshing the page to reload the video. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Services Restored

Users may have experienced an error when trying to sign in to VIULearn, VIUBlogs, VIUTube, or Zoom between 11:30am-12:00pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Services should now be working as expected. If you are still having trouble logging in, please email learnsupport@viu.ca.

VIUBlogs will be unavailable from 6:00 am – 7:00 am on Wednesday, February 24 while VIU servers undergo scheduled maintenance. Please do not use VIUBlogs (https://wordpress.viu.ca) during this maintenance window.

Scheduled Maintenance – Wednesday, January 13

The IT department will be completing some scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, January 13. Users may be unable to log in to VIULearn for up to 15 minutes during the maintenance window from 6:00 – 7:00 am.
