About Us
Our program of research focuses on ethics and health equity to improve the quality of life of people who have chosen medical assistance in dying (MAiD). Although MAiD is now an established component of health care in Canada, significant gaps remain in access to information, support, and continuity of care, particularly for individuals and communities experiencing health and social inequities.
We work in partnership with patients, families, communities, health care providers, and health systems to better understand these inequities and to co-develop ethical, equitable, and community-based approaches to care. Our research also emphasizes capacity building among students, supporting them to recognize, navigate, and respond to ethical issues in complex health and social contexts.
Our aim is to advance ethical and equitable care that supports patients and their families and responds meaningfully to the needs of our communities.
