My spoken letter is about Homalco First Nation’s cultural resurgence, but also to seek out their Indigenous knowledge that the community leaders have and are utilizing to benefit the community.
The first two people that came to mind are Chief Darren Blaney and his sister Fay Blaney as they both are very cultural, political and highly educated and well-respected people in Homalco First Nation. All pictures were sent over Facebook or saved from the Xwemalkwu Facebook group page. Thank you to Brenda Hanson, the singer of the song. Brenda is Homalco and Klahoose. Also, the River bathing picture is of Darren Blaney, chief of Homalco.
