In the Spoken Letter, “Language Makes the People” a language initiative that is being ran by the cooperation of multiple Nuu-chah-nulth communities and one of my family friends, Deb Masso is described and explained. The initiatives mission is to support the resurgence of Indigenous Language, specifically the Nuu-chah-nulth language. I conducted a face-to-face interview with Deb Masso were she explained the importance of language to Indigenous people, and how colonization has impacted the passing of knowledge. The language initiative aims to make the Nuu-chah-nulth language accessible to children and families through classroom language sessions, as well as facebook videos. -Marina D.
