All Systems Stable

We are pleased to report that all systems are currently stable.

VIUTube My Media Library May Not Be Available

Some users may receive a blank screen when attempting to view their videos in their My Media area. This issue has been intermittent and ongoing since 11:00am Tuesday March 29th, 2022.

We do not currently have an estimated time of resolution, but technicians are working on finding and resolving the underlying issue. Thank you for your patience.

VIULearn Emails Not Delivered to Hotmail Email Addresses

Students with Hotmail.com email addresses may not be receiving system generated notification, assignment submission confirmation emails, and emails sent from other users from within VIULearn.

If you are an instructor who emails students through the Classlist tool in VIULearn, please consider sending any emails to your students from Outlook or through the Email Classlist function in the Student Record System.

If you are a student and need help changing your email to a different address, please contact us at learnsupport@viu.ca or call 250-740-6179.

VIULearn: Notification Emails Are Blocked for Hotmail Users

Hotmail is currently blocking Assignment Submission email confirmations and other email notifications sent from learnsupport@d2l.viu.ca as Hotmail believes these email notifications are spam. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are currently working with our vendor to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if users have an alternative email address and domain that they would like to receive notifications to instead, they can edit their notification preferences by clicking their Profile Icon in the upper right hand corner and navigating to the Notifications preference screen.

Users can also view any notifications that they have received by logging into VIULearn and clicking the Notification Bell at the top of the screen.

Services Restored

Users may have experienced an error when trying to sign in to VIULearn, VIUBlogs, VIUTube, or Zoom between 9:00pm-11:00pm PST on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 due to an unexpected login server problem. Users who were already logged into these services before this outage should not have been effected. This issue has since been resolved and services should now be working as expected. If you are still having trouble logging in, please email learnsupport@viu.ca.

VIULearn Waitlisted Students Removed From Courses

We are currently investigating an issue that has caused waitlisted students to be removed from their courses in VIULearn. This issue is contained within VIULearn and waitlisted students have not been officially unenrolled from their courses. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you are a waitlisted student and are concerned about your official enrollment, please check your My Course Enrollment History through your Student Record.

VIUTube Login Not Available

Users are unable to log in to VIUTube following the recent update.  Users will see “invalid username/password” when trying to log in at https://viuvideos.viu.ca. We are working with Kaltura engineers to resolve these issues and will have full services restored as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Instructors in VIULearn can upload and access their media from the VIUTube link under Faculty Tools within their VIULearn course.
