Services Restored

Users may have experienced an error when trying to sign in to VIULearn, VIUBlogs, VIUTube, or Zoom between 9:00pm-11:00pm PST on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 due to an unexpected login server problem. Users who were already logged into these services before this outage should not have been effected. This issue has since been resolved and services should now be working as expected. If you are still having trouble logging in, please email learnsupport@viu.ca.

All services are now stable.

We are pleased to report that all systems are stable.

VIULearn Waitlisted Students Removed From Courses

We are currently investigating an issue that has caused waitlisted students to be removed from their courses in VIULearn. This issue is contained within VIULearn and waitlisted students have not been officially unenrolled from their courses. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you are a waitlisted student and are concerned about your official enrollment, please check your My Course Enrollment History through your Student Record.

VIUTube Login Not Available

Users are unable to log in to VIUTube following the recent update.  Users will see “invalid username/password” when trying to log in at https://viuvideos.viu.ca. We are working with Kaltura engineers to resolve these issues and will have full services restored as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Instructors in VIULearn can upload and access their media from the VIUTube link under Faculty Tools within their VIULearn course.

VIUTube Scheduled Maintenance Aug 22-23

VIUTube will be undergoing scheduled maintenance beginning at 4:00 pm Saturday, August 22, 2020 and continuing to 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Users may be unable to access VIUTube media and tools during the maintenance window.

As of August 13th, videos recorded using VIUTube’s Express Capture are not saving due to an unforeseen issue. This issue should be resolved once the scheduled maintenance has been completed.

While this issue is ongoing, please use VIUTube Personal Capture if you would like to record a video. VIUTube Express Capture Currently Unavailable

Videos recorded using VIUTube’s Express Capture are currently not saving due to an unforeseen issue. We are working with our vendor Kaltura to resolve this issue as soon as possible. This outage affects all users who are attempting to record new videos using Express Capture.

All other systems including Personal Capture, access to videos, and uploading and playback on VIUTube are available and stable.

If you are using Zoom for meetings or online class sessions, you will need to update your Zoom client to version 5.0 in order to continue using the software. Users on VIU-owned devices can find the update in the Software Center. Users on personal computers can install the latest version of Zoom from https://viu.zoom.us/download#client_4meeting
