Japanese Language Course Registration Guide

This page will assist you in deciding your appropriate level of courses to select based on your background with Japanese, this is meant to be a guide in finding what is best suited for an individual. It’s recommended that students take
the following pairs of courses consecutively
in the same academic year:
JAPA100 | JAPA101 | JAPA200 | JAPA201

Which category fits you?             

• Students with little or no knowledge of the Japanese language

• University/College Transfer Students

• Students Who Studied Japanese at High School

• Students with Other Japanese Language Background

• VIU Continuing Students 

Note: If JAPA 201 is not scheduled in an academic calendar, 
please contact the instructor or department for the information on the future offering of the courses
as well as on taking them as directed studies courses.
