VIUBlog Site Creation Unavailable

Users who have attempted to create a VIUBlog site recently may notice that their site has not been created correctly and they will not be able to navigate, create, or customize their newly created site.

To prevent further broken sites from being created we have disabled site creation. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working with IT staff to solve the underlying issue.

Viuvideos.viu.ca No Longer Available

The old VIUTube platform (viuvidoes.viu.ca) is no longer in service. If you encounter any linked or embedded media that is displaying an error or pointing to the old site, please email CIEL at learnsupport@viu.ca with the URL of where that media is shared and a brief description so we can assist with updating that media.

Processing Failed Error Message for Videos Uploaded via Browser Capture

When using VIUTube’s Browser Capture application, users will get a Processing Failed error message after their browser capture videos have been uploaded to VIUTube.

We do not currently have an estimated time of resolution, but technicians are working on finding and resolving the underlying issue. Thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, please do not delete any videos that have failed to process.

If you need to record a browser capture video while this issue is ongoing, please Download your browser capture video rather then clicking the Upload button. Once the video file has downloaded to your device, please upload the file to your VIUTube media library using the standard uploading process.

VIULearn Unavailable

Users are currently unable to login or access VIULearn.

Our vendor is currently working to resolve this issue and will have full service restored as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

VIUTube My Media Library May Not Be Available

Some users may receive a blank screen when attempting to view their videos in their My Media area. This issue has been intermittent and ongoing since 11:00am Tuesday March 29th, 2022.

We do not currently have an estimated time of resolution, but technicians are working on finding and resolving the underlying issue. Thank you for your patience.

VIULearn Emails Not Delivered to Hotmail Email Addresses

Students with Hotmail.com email addresses may not be receiving system generated notification, assignment submission confirmation emails, and emails sent from other users from within VIULearn.

If you are an instructor who emails students through the Classlist tool in VIULearn, please consider sending any emails to your students from Outlook or through the Email Classlist function in the Student Record System.

If you are a student and need help changing your email to a different address, please contact us at learnsupport@viu.ca or call 250-740-6179.

VIULearn: Notification Emails Are Blocked for Hotmail Users

Hotmail is currently blocking Assignment Submission email confirmations and other email notifications sent from learnsupport@d2l.viu.ca as Hotmail believes these email notifications are spam. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are currently working with our vendor to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if users have an alternative email address and domain that they would like to receive notifications to instead, they can edit their notification preferences by clicking their Profile Icon in the upper right hand corner and navigating to the Notifications preference screen.

Users can also view any notifications that they have received by logging into VIULearn and clicking the Notification Bell at the top of the screen.
