Growers Notes

Weekly Grower Notes (30%)

Each week you will be required to write a blog entry of the data and observations you have been collecting throughout the week and report your reflection on your home crop.  Each entry should start with the grow week number and include the key events happening that week including:

  1. Environmental conditions including day and night temperature setpoints and measured day and night temperatures. Include humidity as well.
  2. Hours of supplemental lighting (if required).
  3. Hours of black out (if required).
  4. EC/pH measurements.
  5. Watering/Fertilizing (if required). Be specific of time and date of watering and which fertilizer you used.
  6. Your own observations and reflections of your crop. Must include at least five (5) observations or predictions about your crop each week that have or will impact crop health. For example, in week 33 you can mention potting poinsettias, setting up grow tent or how you will be anticipating the pinch in week 35. An example in week 45 may be about anticipating first colour of poinsettias and predications about sales.  General concerns about watering, fertilizing and pest/disease pressures are encouraged in your notes for future reference.

I recommend setting up a template for yourself to use each week. This will reduce the amount of time to spend on your weekly notes and reduce the chances of you missing a required section or piece of information.
