VIU Network Intermittent Connectivity

VIU is currently experiencing service issues that are impacting network and internet access on VIU’s campuses. VIU’s IT technicians are currently investigating and working with our Internet Service Provider to resolve this issue. For the latest updates, please visit https://viu-it.statuspage.io/

The internet access is intermittent, and may drop at any time. This will impact access to Zoom, VIULearn, VIUBlogs and VIUTube which all rely on a network connection. Where possible we recommend working with offline versions of your files until this issue is resolved.

Access to Zoom, VIULearn, VIUBlogs, and VIUTube is not affected for users who are connecting from off campus or with cellular data.

Employees who created their Zoom account prior to March 17, 2020 can log in to Zoom using their email address and Zoom password. If you created your account on or after March 17, 2020 please contact learnsupport@viu.ca for assistance.

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Zoom Minimum Version Now Enforced

Hosts and participants in Zoom meetings will now need to have at least version 5.7 of the Zoom application in order to join a Zoom meeting. Download the latest version of Zoom at https://zoom.us/download.

If you do not have this version already installed, you will be prompted to update your client when you try to join a meeting and will need to wait for the update to complete before entering the meeting.

All Systems are currently stable.
